An oil leak means that there is oil getting all over the inside of your engine or that your oil reserves are empty or both. I was experiencing a similar oil leak on the side of the vacum pump but in my case it was the Valve Cover - Oil Trap. Its on the driver side, its building up on some of the flat parts near the same level the oil filter is on.

First, the oil can leak onto the exhaust manifold causing fumes and the possibility of a fire.
